“I would just like to take a minute to recognize Wendy. She really does a great job in bring up issues in our “code committee” we have for the system.
She is just such a great advocate for patient safety and is proactive in trying to identify problems before they happen (pre-occupation with failure as a HRO principle).
Thank you.
Dr. Paul Murphree (VP of Medical Outcomes Wellstar Health System)“

You were recognized by the patient safety and quality team for a job well done! You were and are very patient safety aware. “Wendy,
I see shirts people are wearing that say “thankful, grateful, and blessed” that describes my thoughts about you! The past few years have been so difficult- but thanks to you I have been able to devote my time and my heart to Frank (spouse) and our kids. I knew you were watching over my “work life” making sure I could concentrate on my home life. Just knowing that you were keeping me on track at work took so much stress off of me. You always have my back and keep me upright even when I am sinking. I am so thankful you came to Douglasville! You are a dear friend, and an awesome manager, and a caring/compassionate nurse.
Terry Rudisill RN (ICU Charge nurse)“

Jasmyne Williams MSN, RN (ICU Travel Nurse)“
“Wendy,
I have learned so much from you. You have always been an inspiration; you have motivated me to do things I never would have done such as obtaining my CCRN and BSN and for that I could never repay you. You have been the best manager that I have had in my 20 something years in nursing.
Akeya Tatum BSN, RN, CCRN (ICU Charge nurse)“
“An amazing second half of the evaluation year for Wendy. She has led her team through the most difficult time with the pandemic that this ICU has ever seen. She has kept her team focused, energized, and still complimentary of her leadership through some very challenging times. I have never given a leader all 5s on an evaluation before. It only begins to describe the dedication and hard work that Wendy has poured out into this department over this past year. Just keep doing what you are doing Wendy. (2020 evaluation comments)
Wendy sets the gold standard for leadership. To lead her team through one of the most difficult times in recent medical history while being able to sustain high quality patient care and team cohesive was an honor to witness. Wendy works tirelessly to make sure her team has all the education, resources, equipment, and support to function at their highest level. She has done an amazing job at growing her ANM, Charge RNs, and clinical team(s). Her work with the critical care medicine providers has brought a new level of collaboration and support that this ICU has not seen in recent years. The unit’s Great places to work score was 98 this FY which summarizes all the hard work Wendy has dedicated to her team. (2021 evaluation comments)

“Wendy, you have led your team through a turbulent time of uncertainty, chaos, and fear over this FY. I could not be prouder of the way you have encouraged your team and held them together during this covid pandemic. You have also been a champion on our Pathway to Excellence journey and designation. You contributed both in writing and creating enthusiasm amongst your team. I am so pleased that I am able to serve with such a dedicated leader! Thank you for modeling the way. (2020 evaluation comments)
Wendy, I want to commend you on the leadership of your ICU team, both clinically and administratively. You have taken a group of clinicians and molded them into highly skilled, compassionate, and caring team. In all my years at Douglas, I have never seen this ICU group so engaged. I believe this is a direct example of caring you have modeled for them. You have been right there beside them through this pandemic, supporting and encouraging at every step of the way. I am grateful for your leadership. (2021 evaluation comments)

Don’t let anyone fool you about the resources-we are doing everything other ICUs are doing and we’re doing it just as well! It’s a testament to you and your leadership. They truly take their cues from you. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.

“I am so happy to hear that you are receiving the award for exceptional nursing. We were the beneficiaries of your unwavering consideration for treating the multiple type of problems with chronic illness. You did more than manage patient care, you looked beyond the obvious, the known or understood issues to find a better solution that might not have been considered. It is that quality of stretching and thinking outside the box that so impressed us that helped my mom through difficult times. You understand how much it means, how important it is, to work with the patient’s family. Your care, concern, empathy, and knowledge made a huge difference in how we were able to help each other. You are a shining star and I will always feel a tremendous gratitude for you.

“Wendy,
Our lives are not determined by what happens to us, but how we react to what happens; not by what life brings us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst…a spark that creates extraordinary results. It is through your professionalism, positive attitude, and teamwork that resulted in such extraordinary recovery from my operation. It is sometimes difficult to comprehend just how many people it takes working as a team for just one person to survive a surgical procedure. Thank you for being there, saring your talents, and doing such an outstanding job.

“Wendy,
I received a very nice phone message when I arrived to work Monday morning by a man named ***. He told me how helpful and supportive you were when you found him lost in the building Saturday. He was here for a seminar, and he only found it through your thoughtful, caring actions! Thank you!
Michelle Weston (Nurse Manager)“
“Wendy,
Just wanted to thank you for the wonderful care you took of my husband. It was such a difficult time but your compassion while taking the time to talk to us meant so much.
